Ein Jahr in Deutschland: Spring and 2 Months

Frühling

I realize I haven't posted anything in a few months... But here's a quick update!

It's finally spring and starting to get really warm... Although the past week has been pretty rainy and sometimes still a bit cold. It's completely insane that I have exactly 2 months left. I got my return details a couple of months ago and will be flying back to D.C on July 5th :( Definitely going to be very, very bittersweet. I can't believe it's already been 8 months... Anyway excited for the warmer weather and all of the plans I have for my last couple of months.

I took a day trip a couple of weeks ago with my host family to the Rhine Falls in Switzerland (right on the border pretty much) and to Constance and Lake Constance... The weather was amazing and it was all really beautiful... We took a boat to a little island thing in the middle and walked to the top. Looks smaller in photos but definitely was pretty impressive. Afterwards we went to Constance and walked around and had something to eat and then went to Mainau Island which is a garden island, pretty much a botanical garden on an entire island (not that it's huge). Things just started blooming so it was really beautiful. They have a huge rose collection which is definitely incredible once they bloom. They also have a butterfly house and other greenhouses. Unfortunately the visibility that day wasn't good, but otherwise there's an incredible view of the Alps over Lake Constance.

I also took a day trip to Freiburg two weeks ago to look at a program at the university in Freiburg. I was thinking about studying there, and the city is beautiful, but I don't think the program is for me. We drove through the Black Forest on the way back which was really beautiful. Even saw the (second) largest cuckoo clock in the world. I'm visiting Edinburgh this weekend to look at the university, which I deferred from last year. I also applied to two colleges in Holland, in Amsterdam and in Maastricht. Not really sure what I'll end up deciding on, but I think I'll end up going to either Edinburgh or Maastricht. But who knows... Anyways have a lot planned for the next couple of months, Edinburgh, North Sea, end of stay CBYX camp in Berlin.... Time is really flying. I'll be sure to post at some point in June after my end of stay camp and vacation.
